Series: Avatar: The Last Airbender

Second in my series of Avatar characters paired with Chinese mythological beasties: Aang with a qui-lin (ki-lin or kirin [Japanese pronunciation])

Kirin (I'm going with the japanese because I'm japanese and I like the beer :D) is a symbol of purity and virtue. The kirin appears to rulers who are just and virtuous, but also to warn of disasters. They neither eat nor kill any animals, and are associated with all five elements.

Aang's colors in the show and in this pic are the colors associated with Buddhism, so i went ahead and gave him a mandala-topped staff. because i can. :P

The many-colored clouds are to represent happiness and good fortune, because good Muse, Aang has turned into mini-Zuzu of late, hasn't he? I also kept him bald because he's cuter that way. :hug::heart:

I think it was a good idea to leave him bald in this picture, because it brings out the spirituality.

I really like your little series so far, you bring so many elements of religion and spiritual meaning in these, the details are stunning too.

that and aang with hair weirds me out - i mean, i wanted to shave zuzu's hair after he apparently ganked jet's do, so for ang to go and do... THAT... *shudders*

I have fun with mythology. I are geek. :D

I don't mind the hair, since I see the logic behind it xD (would be too weird if they'd walk into the firenation all: "LOLWHUT? I DUN NEED HAIR; I R NINJA) but I like both versions equally.


Mythology is fascinating, so many various beliefs and gods, with powers, meanings......*rambles on and on with eyes glowing* *A*

Yeah... Aang with hair would kind of spoil the peace and tranquilty a bit wouldn't it? And it might also set on fire if the kirin is associated with the elements. That wouldn't be very pleasant for him... His head would be a giant flaming Christmas pudding. XD

Anyway, nice folds of the clothes and the textures of the clouds! It brings out the vibrancy of the Kirin. =D

I also kept him bald because he's cuter that way I was wondering about that when I picked up the avatar magazine at the book store the other day and he had... hair? it looks kinda odd now that I'm so use to him being bald.
