The Freedom Fighters could have been any other group of kids walking back home from the festival.

"Hey, Longshot, want one my my dango? They're really good," Smellerbee offered.

Longshot nodded and smiled shyly as he took the proffered sweet.

Jet raised an eyebrow and grinned knowingly over the way Longshot's hand lingered on Smellerbee's, but said nothing.

Teasing could wait until tomorrow.

"Come on, Sneers, just one?" Pipsqueak begged, clapping a large hand on his comrade's shoulder. He eyed the tori-yaki hungrily.

"No way," Sneers retorted through grit teeth, "And get your hand off my shoulder. This is my last skewer and its your fault for not buying enough!"

"The Duke wanted a pinwheel..." Pipsqueak pointed out, hefting the sleeping child into a more secure position on his back.

Sneers was unmoved. "Then how about one of those mochi?" said Pipsqueak, switching to a different tack, "You can't possibly eat ALL of them."

"They aren't for me, they're for-!" Sneers snapped, before he could think better of it.

"For who?" Pipsqueak pressed, noticing Sneers's expression.

Sneers glared, and oh-so-slightly... blushed.

"THEY'RE FOR YOUR GIRLFRIEND!!!" Pipsqueak roared, putting two and two together, "HEY GUYS, SNEERS GOT A GIRLFRIEND AND HE'S BRINGING HER SWEETS!!"

Sneers remained calm in the face of his friends' teasing by imagining just how he'd smother Pipsqueak with his own pillow later that night.

Another one of my "16 *&$@#-ing hours in airports/airplanes." If I ever think about doing 6 people in a line-up again, I will shoot myself.
