Description

Series: -Danger, Deceit-: An Avatar: the Last Airbender Post-War Fic

Name: 淳 (Murni*) [Pure] of 徐家族 (Xú Clan)
Age: 18
Affiliation: Fire Nation, of the Noble House of Xú
Service: Fire Nation Ministry of Revenue, Junior Aide (Special Branch)
Ability: Financial Models/Statistics; Firebending (kinda ^^;)

Without the service of the Xu clan, no Fire Lord, from Sozin to Zuko, could afford to run a country, let alone a world war. The clan kept the Fire Nation solvent (and profitable) for many generations, and Murni's generation will be responsible for transitioning her country's war-based economy toward one based on peace.

Murni herself is a mathematical genius who ranked top of her class at the Fire Nation Academy for Girls, and third overall in the national civil service exams at the age of 16. She is currently a member of a special project team in the Ministry of Revenue tasked with finding peacetime purposes for the Fire Nation's war machine (ex. foundries, mining, ship-building), a job she takes very seriously. Murni is also somewhat socially awkward and shy, which she compensates for by being intellectually overbearing; she tends to be much more relaxed around old school friends and her parents.

Murni's firebending skills are the only blotch on her academic record, and one she is now trying to rectify, studying and practicing with all the fervor she once reserved for mathematical formulae. All the same, if she had to fight, she'd probably be better off smacking her opponent upside the head with an abacus than trying to toss a fireball at them. ^^;

P. S. - The Xu clan are nicknamed “the Incorruptibles” for their integrity; if it is discovered that one of their own is guilty of any form corruption, such as taking bribes or skimming off tax revenues, the clan will publicly execute the offender (via beheading) and throw their ashes into the sea. :fear:
It's been about 150 years since the clan has had to execute someone for such crimes. ^^;

* Decided to go with the Malay name because it's cute. :D

I love how in depth you are thinking about this. It is seldom that I find someone who is actually considering how the Fire Nation would remodel itself politically postwar. One of the things I thought the new regime could do to garner support from the populus in both the Fire Nation and the Earth Kingdom would be to offer lucrative reconstruction contracts to Fire Nation merchants/nobility who pledged loyalty to Zuko. The reconstruction projects would rebuild Earth Kingdom cities devastated by the war and start to repair the Fire Nation's damaged image but also bribe the notable figures in Fire Nation society to siding with Zuko. They'd miss out on opportunities to increase their wealth by going against him.
